Anyone Can Become a Tutor! The most important gift you can give is your time and willingness to help others improve their reading, writing, or math skills. More than anything else, we rely on the dedication and enthusiasm of our volunteer tutors. Most tutors and students meet once per week at the LCLC offices or one of the public libraries in the county. You do NOT need any experience in tutoring or a background in teaching, just a willingness to help. We provide all of our tutors with training, support, and instructional materials. If you’d like to volunteer your time, please contact our office to learn how to become a volunteer literacy tutor. Auburn University Service LearnersA large percentage of LCLC volunteers each year come to us through Auburn University’s College of Education Service Learning program. Most AU service learners devote approximately 3 hours per week to tutoring with us. If you are a student looking for a service learning project, please consider volunteering. Go to the AU Service learning Resources site for more information. https://fp.auburn.edu/education/eflt/servicelearning/ Gifts and DonationsWe always welcome monetary donations and gifts of needed items. Please contact our office to find out more information about our current needs. We are a non-profit organization, and all gifts and donations are tax deductible. |
"Tutoring someone who desires to learn and works at it consistently is SO rewarding. It is a wonderful experience to see the world of the written work (books, newspaper, menus, packaging, etc) open up to a learner who has worked so diligently."-Ellie O’Steen, Tutor
