We are grateful to the many local organizations who provide referrals, advertising, and private, convenient meeting spaces for our tutors and learners. We would also like to thank our area schools, area churches, local businesses, civic clubs, and other United Way agencies for their generous support. The United WayThe LCLC is a United Way agency in Lee County, and is principally funded by the United Way of Lee County. Our office is located in the United Way building at 2133 Executive Park Drive, Opelika, Alabama 36801.Public Relations Council of Alabama (PRCA)Every year the Public Relations Council of Alabama (PRCA) hosts a corporate spelling bee to benefit the LCLC. It is a fun and popular event that only gets better each year. In the PRCA Spelling Bee, local businesses sponsor a team of three adult spellers. Spectators are treated to door prizes, refreshments, and the sight of friends competing for a spelling title.Referrals

"Participation in the Literacy Coalition has been one of the most inspiring things I have done since my retirement. The learner with whom I work has now progressed in her goal of Bible reading to such an extent that she can actively participate in her Bible study class, not to mention the importance of her civic life. We agreed, from the beginning, to orient our work to her interest, but it was evident that a certain skill level would be required for her to successfully handle biblical reading. We are now able to begin each meeting with the Bible, then move on to the structured lesson."-Mary Millman, Tutor
